How it begins
Have you heard of the great Forest of Burzee? My nurse used to sing about it when I was a child. She sang of the big tree trunks, standing close together. Their roots twisted together under the earth, and their branches twisted together above it. She sang of their rough coats of bark and their strange, knobbly limbs. She sang of the bushy leaves that made a roof over the whole forest. Only here and there did the sunbeams find a path through. There they touched the ground in little spots, and cast strange and curious shadows over the mosses, the lichens and the heaps of dried leaves. The Forest of Burzee is mighty and grand, and full of wonder for anyone who creeps beneath its shade.
